My dog's fur has scabs and clumps. Allergies, new food, or move?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Max's (Labrador) fur has parts that are raised and come out in tiny little clumps stuck together with a part of a scab.. However we have recently moved and I know it could be a possibility for allergies to the area. I did introduce new wet food to his usual dry food to get him to eat more as he will refuse to eat his food sometimes because he expects us to give him food we ade eating. he is very scared of the vet and I rather not stress him out if I dont have to, but I will if needed..

It sounds like there have been a lot of changes for Max which may be causing some issues. Removing the wet food if you think it may be a possible issue, and giving him a few days to settle into the new place may help. If any of the scabby areas continue to grow, don't heal, or seem very bothersome to him, then having a vet take a look is best. If he doesn't like going to the vet, seeing if there is a housecall service in your area may make things a little more comfortable (and less stressful) for him!
