My dog, out of nowhere, began having very intense sneezing and reverse sneezing episodes a few months ago. There’s no blood, but she sneezes out lots of snot and paws at her nose frequently. She has these episodes several times a day. We’ve been to the vet 3 times and she’s been on 2 rounds of antibiotics and a round of steroids. Nothing works, not even Benadryl. Now my vet is suggesting a CT scan, but that costs $800. I don’t really know if I have any other options.

I am so sorry to hear that Mary Jane has this problem. Has she been treated for nasal mites? It is an uncommon problem but definitely worth a trial therapy prior to a CT. I also will typically perform a nasal flush under anesthesia before a CT as well. A nasal flush can help dislodge an object - I have found charcoal, carrot, grass, and foxtails on nasal flushes. She definitely could have inhaled an object with her head out the car window such as in your picture. Should these therapies not provide any improvement, then I would proceed with a CT at that time. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
