My 2-month-old adopted kitten is shy. Is this normal behavior?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

I just adopted 2 kittens 2 months old. One is doing great. The other one is very distant not much interaction with me or his sister. It has been 5 days now and I'm starting to worry. I have never had a kitten behave this way. Is this normal behavior?

Some kittens are more shy than others. Give him time. Pet him and talk to him, eventually he will be tamer and interact. Imagine he is in a new place, with new smells, people without his mommy. 2 months of age is still very young to be taken from the mother, so he probably feels very lonely and sad after his mommy.
