My guinea pig is sick and not eating. Do Petco vets treat exotics?

My Guinea pig just started acting weird maybe 2 days ago. He isn’t eating that much and barely drinking any water..and I work everyday and the only time I can take him to get checked out would be Saturday, but I’m not sure if the petco near me will schedule an appointment for any pet other than a cat/dog...?

Thanks for reaching out about your guinea pig. This sounds serious and should not wait until Saturday. Anorexia for 2 days is a serious concern, four to five days might be fatal. You might have to check for clinics open later in the evening. Offering food and water via a syringe might improve things, but is not a cure. Check with the Petco veterinarian to inquire on their experience with exotic animal. Investigating which local veterinarian has the most exotics experience might prove beneficial. Good luck.
