Why is my cat's nose bleeding after starting diarrhea medicine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 9 months and 27 days old | 5 lbs

I took my cat to the veterinarian today for his clear slimy diarrhea. They prescribed a new vitamin and antibiotic for his stomach. Now his nose is bleeding, Is he forcing himself to clear his nasal passage? They had us use clear eyes for his nasal passage to help keep it lubricated, would that cause it?

Oh no. Poor guy. The lubricant should not have caused him to have a nose bleed. I suspect there is something else going on here, possibly an adverse reaction to some of the medication he is on, or a separate issue altogether such as rhinitis or a bleeding disorder (rare but still a concern with random unexplained bleeding). I would highly recommend taking Biff back in to your veterinarian as soon as you can for additional testing and treatment based on the results of his tests. I hope that Biff will be ok. Best wishes and take care!
