Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | 1 year and 1 month old | 3.52 lbs
Hi my toy poodle shrieks " eek! " everytime she jump down from flat bed which is only 7inches tall.. Its been more than 3 days. But she still plays, ran normally, stretched her legs, eats.. But everytime she jump on the floor, she shrieks and then comes toward me for hug. A Few days ago her body shakes after every jump, seemed like its very painful. She doesnt go down from bed to pee, so she waits for me to wake up and put her down on floor. What should i do? Is it normal?

At this age, she likely has some issues with her knees. In particular a condition called patellar luxation affects small breed dogs often and can cause temporary moments of discomfort. A physical exam by your vet can help diagnose the problem quickly. If she does have patellar luxation, joint supplements (i.e. Dasquin or Cosequin) and sometimes pain management through your vet can help provide some comfort for her. Only rarely do pets need surgery to correct patellar luxation. Here is more information on the disorder. https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952566 Another possible cause is a congenital bone abnormality. Again, a physical exam with her vet can help locate the exact defect and painful area. I hope that your pet Dixie gets some relief soon. Best wishes and take care.
