My puppy's licking her private area, has green discharge and a pimple.

My puppy (3 months) has been excessively licking her private area. We thought she was just cleaning herself but the past week or so we’ve noticed a green colored substance after she pees and now there is a pimple-like growth that looks to be filled with the pus like substance that was draining from her private area. What could be wrong with her and what should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This looks like a focal infection. You can try to use chlorhexidine containing pads (such as the Douxo chlorhexidine 3% PS pads) to clean the are twice daily for 7 days. You may find these online or at your local pet store. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If the green substance after urinating continues to be present, she should also be evaluated by a veterinarian as that may be a sign of an infection. Good luck and have a good night!
