My dog's red eyes and discharge aren't getting better with vet drops.

Question

Hello, my Gracie has red on the bottom of both eyes and her discharge looks like this ( see picture provided) I took her to the vet and they gave me drops to apply every 8 hours 3 weeks ago. Still hasn't gone down. You can definitely see it when she's resting closing her eyes and looks up at you. Is she ok? Also, can I use honey and warm water and apply that as drops on the eye? Or green tea? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 4 years and 11 months old | 45 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I do not recommend that you use green tea or honey as eye drops. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. I highly recommend that you have Gracie reevaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. They could consider referring you to an ophthalmologist for further advice. Good luck and best wishes!
