My dog is drooling, has no appetite, and feels cold. Is he sick?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Basset Hound | Male | neutered | 80 lbs

My dog has diminished appetite and seems to get cold and take a long time to warm up. Should I be concerned? He doesn’t seem himself, and is also drooling more than usual.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Drooling can be a sign of nausea which may in turn be causing the decreased appetite. I recommend that you have Hank evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a great day! Hoping for a speedy recovery!
