Why is my old Golden Retriever lethargic and not eating with a liver tumor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Female | spayed | 12 years and 7 months old | 65 lbs

Our 12.5 Y/O Golden Retriever has been very lethargic over the last 24 hours. She takes Gabapentin, Galiprant, Denamarin, Ursidiol for a 9cm + tumor on her liver. Last night both of her ears were warm. Today her front two paws were cold. The ears are normal today. She has not eaten in 36 hours, she has drank some water and has urinated once today. Her gums look normal, yesterday she was walking very slow and could barely keep her eyes open. We are snowed in and cant get to a vet.

I would be concerned that Baby might be ill - it’s possible that her liver tumor is the problem or that something different is going on. Unfortunately I don’t think there is anything specific you can do at home without seeing a vet. You should make sure she gets plenty of water and let her rest. If she seems to be distressed you should do your best to see a vet.
