My senior dog had anemia, collapsed, and died. What caused it?

I had a pug who's 14 years old he passed away today. when I took him to the doctor they did blood work and said he was a anemic but not low enough for him to collapse. Dr said all the organs were good and heart was strong. They gave me a supplement vitamin c dropper to give him that night he wasn't himself. I took him back to the emergency vet, he drop down to 13% his mouth was pale-looking and collapse again front. Doctor said there was no way to saving him. So I had no choice but to euthanize. Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Male | 13 years and 2 months old | 31 lbs
