Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Asian | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 9 months old | 6 lbs

Hi dr I want to ask, my cat has not been able to walk for the past 2 weeks, and cannot stand still when standing up he will collapse, Last week I took him to the vet, the doctor said it was because of a respiratory tract infection because there were white spots in his mouth, the doctor had prescribed a medication that must be consumed for 5 days but until now there is still no development of my cat, still unable to walk and stand. I keep giving him food and drink regularly, please help

These are not typical symptoms for an upper respiratory infection. I would recommend that you have Pus re-evaluated by the vet. He should have a thorough physical and neurologic exam, and may need x-rays and blood work. There are many things that can cause weakness or inability to stand, but many of them have a poor prognosis. Unfortunately, we need more information to try to figure out what is going on.
