Dog's pink vagina tip after UTI meds. Should I worry or see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

The tip of my dogs vagina is light pink there is no blood and she is urinating a little more frequently than normal. She just finished up antibiotics for a uti 3 days ago and has been peeing less than she was. She no longer has any blood in her urine, though the most she ever had was a dot in the center of where she peed. Is it normal to be a little pink at the tip like this or should she see a vet? She is not swollen and seems to be normal. Eating, drinking, playing and pooping.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This does not necessarily warrant a veterinary evaluation if it goes away on its own. Since she has improved, I would continue to monitor her for now. If this does not improve, I recommend you have her reevaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may decide at that point to try a different antibiotic if they think it is because of an infection. Best of luck!
