Why is my dog lethargic, not eating, but still wants to go for walks?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 13 years and 5 months old | 13 lbs

Hello. I have a question about my dog. She is a 13 year old terrier mix. 13 pounds. She typically has a lot of energy, runs, jumps, plays. Yesterday morning she woke up and was lethargic. She didn't want to get out of bed. She looked at me sadly. She didn't eat, but went outside to pee. However, when asked about a walk, all her energy returned. Totally normal again. She pooped twice. She came back in and ate her food. But then got sad again. This morning was the same, a bit more energy and ate.

Hello, sorry to hear about Sammy. Occasionally, pets may feel under the weather and this is often self limiting. However, if she is not back to normal in a few days, then she would need to be seen by her primary veterinarian. Possibilites may include an upper respiratory tract infection, a GI upset, or a urinary tract infection. More severely causes for her signs include liver disease, pancreatitis, or even kidney disease. These however is typically accompanied by other clinical signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and severe lethargy. If Sammy develops any of the above or if she is not back to her normal self within 3-5 days, then she should be evaluated by her veterinarian. Hope this helps and best of luck.
