Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 61 lbs
My dog has had diarrhea for a little over 2 days. I just sent in a fecal sample to get tested because she drank muddy water at the dog park this past weekend. Now I’m noticing some inflammation on her lips (probably from licking herself). What should I be giving her to eat and what else can I do before we get the results from the test?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Diarrhea can be due to parasites for example though that can also be seen with other conditions such as colitis or gastroenteritis. What you can do in the meantime is feed her a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice to help her with an upset belly. Otherwise, it would depend on the results of the fecal test. Your veterinarian could proceed with anti-diarrhea medications which may help in the meantime. Best of luck!
