Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old | 71 lbs
I rescued sally from a wheat field almost 2 years ago. I dont know much about her, except she doesn't like open field and needs a fenced yard, doesn't like tires/loud vehicles, and is obsessed with children. I was able to calm her down quite a bit and she listened very well. However, lately she has been getting into the garbage, jumping up on the counters, stealing food, chewing on things that aren't hers. I'm not sure why she is doing this. What could be causing this and what should I do?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is just behavior commonly seen with her breed as they are dominant and challenging and require very strict and consistent training. These types of behavior can improve though this does require in person training with the help of a qualified dog trainer. I would encourage you to contact a dog trainer that can work with you and Sally in person to really take care of this behavior. The sooner these behaviors are dealt with, the more likely it is that you can improve and resolve them. Good luck and have a good night!
