My dog had diarrhea so I started him on a bland diet of white rice and a very small amount of chicken. Should I be worried that he hasn't had a bowel movement in 24 hrs? Are there any other things I should give him? Pumpkin?

As long as Benny isn't straining or attempting to defecate without producing stool I wouldn't worry about lack of defecation. Sometimes after diarrhea resolves things can slow down through the gastrointestinal tract and it can take several days to resume a normal frequency of defecation. Sometimes adding fiber to the diet such as canned pumpkin can help with diarrhea, but since Benny hasn't had diarrhea in the past 24 hours I would simply continue the chicken and rice and begin a gradual transition to his usual diet in a day or two. If he goes more than three days without defecating I'd recommend seeing your vet.

I am happy Ziggy is feeling better. After a rough case of diarrhea it can take a few days for ziggy to poop again. This is because poop has to form in the colon again. I would continue with the bland diet for a few more days. If ziggy ever acts uncomfortable or bloated I would recommend taking him back to the vet but for now I would continue to monitor him at home. hope that helps!
