Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely due to an allergic reaction. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian. If this is confirmed, they would likely start him on anti-histamine medications and steroids which can help with an allergic reaction. Best of luck!

This is probably an allergic reaction due to an insect bite, something he ate or a plant outside. those reactions tend to resolve within 48 hours without treatment. if the swelling becomes too large or if Boost is lethargic, take him to the vet in order to get an antihistamine injection.

My boxer has a red bump on her inner front leg that kind of resembles a nipple. What could it be?
Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! A lot if skin bumps can look the same. But for a young dog and the location of it being on a leg it is likely a benign growth called a histiocytoma. They usually spontaneously regress in a few months. The other possibility is a Mast cell tumor, which can be common in Boxers. If the bump grows larger or doesn't go away in 2-3 months I would have your Vet examine it and consider aspirating it to see what it could be. It is never wrong to get it looked at sooner either! My seven year old male boxer has bumps on face. He has allergies but these are a first.
These bumps could be a contact allergy, bacterial infection or caused by an auto-immune disease. Since Samson is already prone to allergies he may have been poking around somewhere with his mouth/face and had an allergic reaction. If the bumps do not go away within 24 hours I recommend you have your veterinarian examine Samson's mface. Samson may need some antihistamines or a steroid injection or antibiotics if this is a bacterial infection.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for envir

The bumps likely represent a secondary infection and traumatic injuries from scratching. Hi, I'm Dr. Johnson. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Jamo! It sounds like Jamo is having an allergic reaction and the raised red bumps are hives. Another possibility is a skin infection. Hives could be from an insect bite, a reaction to something she ate or an environmental allergen. Boxers tend to be a sensitive breed! Ideally I recommend that you bring her to your Vet to have her looked at, I understand your financial dilemma. They will know best the difference between an infection and hives. An infection requires antibiotics while hives from an allergic reaction require steroids and an antihistamine. You could try 2 tablets of 25mg generic benadryl every 8 hours. Just make sure there are no other drugs or decongestants in the benadryl. I wish you the best of luck
