My dog ate two large pieces of raw chicken and raw pork. Should I be concerned? If so what steps should I take next to make sure she will be okay?

The problem with raw chicken and raw pork is that they may be contaminated with certain detrimental bacteria. So monitor your dog for diarrhea and vomiting. Should this occur you can try the following: I would fast Alley for 24 hours and then put her on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, it needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.

Withhold food for 12-24 hours. Allow small amounts of water. Resume feeding a bland diet (1:1 ratio of plain boiled boneless chicken and plain white rice). Feed in small, frequent amounts waiting at least one hour between feedings. If the vomiting stops, continue feeding until the stool is normal. Transition slowly to the regular diet afterwards. If the vomiting or diarrhea don’t stop, see your veterinarian.

I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend another veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Anti-emetic medications (against vomiting) may be needed. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

This does not sound like parvoviris which generally presents with very smelly bloody diarrhoea. Feeding a dog a fatty meal such as a fried pork chop can cause a condition known as pancreatitis. The pancreas is overwhelmed by the fat and becomes very inflamed. This causes the dog to be in a great deal of pain, lethargic and often profuse vomiting. The pork chop could also upset the stomach. I would advise getting her to a vet asap as pancreatitis can be very serious but is usually treatanle with medications on an outpatient basis if caught early.
