My cat is very lethargic and not moving. Can I wait to see the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 13 lbs

My indoor/outdoor male cat has, over the last 2 weeks went from uncharacteristically lovey to lethargic to now profoundly lethargic and unable to hope to his food bowl. he ate and drank last night but has not moved from his spot in 18 hrs. If i try to stand him up he crawls right back to a comfortable laying position. he does not seem to be in any pain; however, i do not know how his bowel/urinary moments have been as he usually goes outside. i cant take him to the vet til tomorrow, can we wait?

Hello. Since it has been 2 weeks since your kitty began showing signs of illness, so 1 more day probably will not make much of a difference. But please do not miss this appointment. It sounds like General Pumpkin really needs to see a medic. I hope all is well & thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
