What to do if my kitten is limping, hopping, and has a swollen front leg?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 7 months and 8 days old | 9 lbs

My kitten is limping when he had limped previously he was fine after a few days. He usually brings our attention to injuries. He wasn’t flinching when we first touched it but now when we go around the elbow region he pulls back. He hasn’t been putting pressure on it and has been hopping around. We do have two kittens so we figured they were playing rough. We were wondering what we should do.

Your kitten's front leg actually looks swollen, so there could be a sprain or even a bite abscess. You should take your beautiful Ned to a veterinarian for an exam. this is painful, so pain medicine (specifically for cats) should also be given by the vet. Please schedule an appointment with your veterinarian.
