Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Male | unneutered | 13 years old | 105 lbs
My dog (13) has recently had an increase in his anti-seizure medication because he had a few seizures recently. In addition, the vet thought it was a good idea to switch him from Prednisone that he had been on for the last 6+ month (twice daily of 5mg) to Rimadyl. It seemed like a very abrupt taper to me. He went from his normal dosage last Tuesday to 1, 5mg dosage on Wednesday to nothing on Thursday. Now he is extremely lethargic, will barely eat, and is quivering. Nothing else has changed.

I definitely agree that prednisone tapering should take much longer but if you have already switched him to Rimadyl you cannot give him the prednisone anymore. if you have not switched him yest you should do a much slower tapering over a period of at least 2 weeks, reducing gradually every 5-7 days.
