Why is my dog lip smacking and what's normal for dog urine color?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 4 lbs

Is this a the normal color of urine? Also, a few times a year she does this thing where she smacks her lips, like an opening & closing movement. What does this mean? She did it this morning when she got out of bed. Could the cause of that be the build up of tartar? She’s going to get a dental done.

That seems a fairly normal color although seems a bit concentrated. That behaviour could be due to nausea (usually is not related to tartar), but if she does it just few times a year there is nothing to be worried about. The tartar on the pics seems of mild quantity (good to be removed anyway but I would expect it not to cause any sign).
