My Frenchie's spay incision isn't healing after 2 weeks. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | French Bulldog | Female | spayed | 7 lbs

My frenchie got spayed 14 days ago and the inscision is still open from one side and a white thick liquid comes out. The first week after the procedure it was leaking a lot (pinkish color) and the vet gave her a treatment (antibiotics i think). As the wound was still not healed the vet continued with the treatment the second week.Should I be concerned that after 2 weeks of treatment she is not healed yet? She is a little better but still doesn’t eat much and is shaking when inspecting the wound.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is in fact concerning given the fact that it has not improved much. At this point, I would consider performing a culture of this discharge to check for evidence of a resistant infection that may be present so that targeted therapy such as the right antibiotic can be used. I would recommend you check in with your veterinarian again. Best of luck!
