Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 4 lbs
Hello, my cat Nala is gaining weight and I'm not really sure why. I believe her weight ranges from 10 - 14 pounds. I feed her 1/4 cup twice a day but I think that may be too much. I have added the blue buffalo feeding chart in the images below, can someone please explain to me if these measurements are meant to be given once a day or divided into two feedings? So for example: if it says i should feed her 1/2 cup, does that mean only 1/2 cup a day or twice a day? Please look at the attached image

Thank you for submitting your question Nala. The feeding recommendations on the side of the bag are total daily calories. You can divide this amount however you chose. It is important to note that the feeding recommendations on the bag are geared for the cats with the highest metabolism within each weight bracket. This is too much food for most cats. If your cat is overweight, then you will want to feed less. Cats should only have a thin covering over the ribs. You should be able to feel individual ribs. The cat should also have a defined waist from both the top and side views. I hope this information helps!
