My 10-week puppy's bloody diarrhea returned. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cocker Spaniel | Male | unneutered

I have a 10 week old puppy who has very bloody loose stools. He had a 10 day course of antibiotics and probiotics which seem to help the stools became more solid still with a little blood, but now after the course of both has finished the stools have become loose again with a lot of blood. What could this be? I’m so worried He is a normal fun energetic puppy regardless of this.

I wish I knew what medication your dog received. you will have to take Oscar back to a veterinarian for a recheck as when there is blood in the stool, there are obviously open blood vessels and intestinal bacteria can enter the circulatory system and cause sepsis. Of course there is always the possibility of severe intestinal parasitosis, or a parvo infection. So it is important that Oscar is seen by a veterinarian for a recheck and a fecal exam as well, medications according to the exam findings and diagnosis, and prescription antibiotics.
