Pet's info: Bird | Parakeet | Male | unneutered | 1lb
I have 2 budgies and they are normally pretty loud. They fill my room with constant chirping every second of the day. But recently, they have fallen silent. I tried playing YouTube videos of other budgies chirping. That normally works, but it didn't this time. They have been quiet for almost two weeks. I read online that going silent like that is not normal and that they might have a number of diseases. I'm concerned. What could be the cause?

Thanks for reaching out about Grandpa and Banana. Becoming quiet could be a sign of multiple things. Behavior or stress could cause the change but two weeks is a prolonged period of time. Illness is the other possibility. Monitor appetite and water intake. Providing heat support might aid in there demeanor. Most avian veterinarian encourage parrots to be kept at 80-85 degrees. If appetite is reduced or you think the birds are ill, a veterinary visit is needed. Good luck.
