Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 5 days old | 4 lbs
so, i read on Petco Pet Education Center and other sources that a puppy should drink mother's milk until the age of around 2 months. i literally went through hundreds of breeders here around and far from my place but couldn't find a single breeder who kept the puppies for more than 1 month.not even top class breeders. even vets here told me that i wont get puppies of 2 months of age by any breeder. anyway, my question was what are the harms if a puppy stops drinking mother's milk at about 1 month?

You are correct in that most puppies are weaned off of mothers milk from 3-5 weeks of age. There is no harm if the puppy is not kept on mothers milk for a full 2 months. The initial colostrum (first portion of the milk), is the most important part because it contains all the immunity T cells. The mothers milk is high in nutrients and easily digestible until the pet gets teeth at which point that pet can start transitioning to a well balanced puppy food that has all the nutrients he needs to grow and be healthy. During the weaning process its best to add in milk replacement with the puppy starter food to help him transition well. This can take up until he is 6 weeks of age. I hope this helps! Best wishes with your puppy Tobi. Take care!
