My dog is dry heaving and gagging but nothing comes out. Is it bloat?

.my dog wants to puke but cannot or he might be gagging i dont know. He did it three times but nothing came out. Is it serious as he ate his dinner 3-4 hours ago. Help. Pet's info: Dog | German Longhaired Pointer | Male | neutered | 1 year and 7 months old | 45 lbs
