Hello My dog a Shorkie 10 pounds , 4 years old Male was diagnosed with Cystine Kidney stones Many of them around 10-15. I already asked a vet on Petco Pet Education Center and she said to ask his vet. Wesurgically removed it. What is the best diet for him now ? Before he was on kibbles but now we are feeding him Raw turkey Sweet potatoes carrots Green beans ocassional egg . We asked his Vet but they want us to buy their product that they sell at the Vet and we dont feel confident to be pressured buying their food

Cysteine stones are uncommon and their presences means there's something wrong with the way his body is metabolizing food, or, more like in this case, that his diet was very unbalanced. It takes a lot of work and expensive supplements to may a home cooked diet safe, so there's a good change that was the problem. If you don't feel comfortable with your vet's recommendations, I think it would be good to get a second in-person opinion because it's important to work with a vet that you trust.
