My cat is lazy, has a raspy meow, but no other symptoms. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

My cat seems extra lazy and her meow sometimes has been raspy. She has no other symptoms like sneezing or watery or snotty eyes or nose. She’s an indoor cat only and doesn’t go outside. I don’t know if she could be starting her heat cycle or what but I just don’t know if something could be wrong.

It could just be her attitude, or she could be sick. Upper respiratory infections, nerve issues, polyps or masses in the throat, and hyperthyroidism could cause lethargy and a change in "voice." If you are concerned about Melo being seing, then I would recommend that you have her examined by a vet. They can do a thorough exam and discuss diagnostics or treatment if there is concern.
