My pet ate a needle and thread from food. Is she okay? How to report?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 9 years and 10 months old | 4 lbs

Precious got down to eat & I noticed that she was having a hard time. I realized something was stuck in her mouth & it was a needle with thread. She was frantic but I got it out. I think only the thread part went down because it was wet. I had just poured her more food from a practically new bag. My needles look nothing like this. Mine are small & skinny. This one was longer & thicker. Plus I NEVER stitch in my room & I just cleaned. Should she be okay? I see no blood. How do I report it?

If you got the whole thread out, she should be fine. I think you can report this to several places: 1) the company that manufactures the food (contact should be on the bag, if not, then look for the company on the internet, their website should have the contact info.). I would also inform the Bureau of Consumer Protection: https://www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/bureaus-offices/bureau-consumer-protection https://www.usa.gov/state-consumer Make sure you keep the needle and the thread as proof.
