My dog, especially a German Shepherd, tilts its head. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 3 days old | 4 lbs

is head-tilt a bad thing in a dog? some vets say whenever a dog does a head tilt, its a symptom of mental imbalance. all i could find in the internet was that 'head tilt could be a symptom of distemper virus'. specifically talking about german shepherds here cause they're prone to head tilt.

head tilt is a sign of a neurological condition and it has absolutely nothing to do with "mental imbalance". A head tilt is always something that should be investigated by a veterinarian as it can point to neurological problems arising from the highly contagious distemper virus, a serious inner ear infection or a stroke or vestibular syndrome and more,,,, If your puppy has a head tilt, please immediately take it to a veterinarian. Vaccination will protect against distemper virus.
