My dog was attacked. Why is she coughing, heaving, and can't bark?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 15 lbs

Hello, my dog was recently attacked by a much bigger dog and has two puncture wounds, one on her neck and the other and the back of her neck. they've healed and there is no infection. However, she seems to have trouble barking and heaves and coughs if she tries. I was wondering if there was a possibility that her vocal cords were possible harmed or that her condition is worse than i believe.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That could definitely be because of the attack. The main reason dog fights or dog attacks are so concerning especially when the other dog is a small dog is that there is usually more trauma inflicted than what you can see on the outside. For that reason, I highly recommend that you check in with a veterinarian who can examine her to look for other possible traumatic lesions that may need therapy. Best of luck!
