My dog has a red spot on his elbow with hair loss. Is it serious?

My dog is getting this really pinkish-red spot on his front elbow area, and there is some hair loss. I just want to see if its something I should be worried about, or if I should change shampoos or find a conditioner or moisturizer. Pet's info: Dog | Jack Russell Terrier | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 21 days old | 11 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This may be a skin infection. You can try to use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine twice weekly for 2 weeks. If there is no improvement or in the meantime this appears to be getting worse, have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Good luck and have a good night!
