My dog's painful testicle hot spots aren't healing. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 48 lbs

My 5-year old dog has hot spots on his testicles and they look sticky and painful. I've been medicating him with Cephalexin and Ivermectin tablets and a powder as directed by the vet but it didn't help at all. Please tell me what should I do to cure this because I'm really worried.

You will need to put an e-collar on your dog so he cannot lick his testicles and keep them from healing. You may have to take him back to the vet for a skin swab or biopsy to be sent in and cultured and examined under the microscope, respectively. This may also be a fungal or parasitic infection or even cancerous.
