This would require long-term prescription medication, if allergies are diagnosed by a veterinarian as the problem. The other possibility is that the ears are getting irritated from frequent ear cleanings. If you clean the ears more frequently than once a week, then they can get irritated, which can ironically set-up an environment for infection. It may be red from the irrtatiyou bind cleaning them and rubbing them. If it does not bother her and she doesn’t seem to notice then I would monitor it for changes. They should return to normal within a few hours of settling down and leaving them alone. If it were from the medicine and be an allergic reaction it should irritate and itch and burn her ears. This could be from an allergy , irritation or an ear infection. This looks like it could have an early infection. I would recommend having your veterinarian do an exam to make sure there isn't anything going on like a middle ear infection. Since you've caught it early hopefully only a short course of topical medication will be needed.

Oh my, poor Esme! There is no doubt that her ear is significantly inflamed. Even though she is not itchy, my main suspicion is that the redness, scaling, and warmth are inflammatory reactions to an ear infection or allergies. Some dogs are quite stoic when their ears are uncomfortable and may not itch with these conditions. Regardless, I strongly recommend taking Esme to her vet for evaluation. The vet will be able to examine her ears thoroughly, including the lower portions of the ear canal that are not visible to the naked eye. The vet will also be able to microscopically evaluate any discharge present in her ears to determine if infection is present. From there, medication can be prescribed to either treat an infection or to treat this significant inflammation. I hope this helps and that Esme feels better soon!

You should definitely not use hydrogen peroxide as it can cause serious damage to the ear, Benadryl will not help. It's probably an ear infection, often it cannot be seen from the outside. Ear infections are very common in dogs, it is usually caused by either yeast or bacterial disease. the treatment is usually simple and straightforward, you will have to take her to the vet and get the ears checked, then a prescription ear drops will be prescribed according to the infectious agent.
