My dog spit out heartworm medicine; saw a white line. Is it a worm?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 17 lbs

Giulio chewed up and spit out his heartworm medication today and I noticed a thin white line that looked like a worm that came from the medication.. is this normal? He is in heartguard

There are no worms in the medication. This could have been a cutting line or from the manufacturing process and I doubt you have to worry. There is a possibility that your dog may have regurgitated an intestinal worm and it just so happened to come up with the medication. Usually heartguard will kill intestinal worms as well so that is a possibility. Unless (I know it is gross) Giulio ate the regurgitated medicine again you will need to repeat the heartworm dose.
