Tranexamic acid is a man-made form of an amino acid called lysine. Tranexamic acid prevents enzymes in the body from breaking down blood clots. In dogs it is used to induce emesis and stop excessive bleeding. There can be side effects such as blood clots, a stroke, etc. I would monitor your dog for anything that appears unnormal or ill and if it occurs take him to a veterinarian immediately for an exam and treatment.
