My dog is clingy and protective. How do I stop her aggression?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 10 months old

When I got Baby she was very shy, sick and anxious. She spends 24 hours with me and is super clingy and whines for attention. When we go out to the dog park and there are other dogs there she'll stay right next to me but she'll charge at dogs that run towards me or past me. She also bit my brother, not bad, when he tried pulling her from under the table where she was right next to me chair. She doesnt ever bite or growl at me. Any idea what could be going on and how I could fix it?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She is likely being very protective of you. Usually these behaviors can be corrected but this usually requires in person training by a qualified dog trainer. I recommend you consider contacting a qualified dog trainer to work with you in person. Good luck and have a good day!
