My puppy's bulbous glands are rock hard for hours. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | unneutered | 8 months and 14 days old | 45 lbs

My 8 month old puppy’s bulbous glands are very hard and have been for a few hours now. I know they swell but this seems abnormal, they are extremely hard like rocks and have been this way for a while now. Should I be worried?

First, stop touching the area since extra stimulation will keep them enlarged. As long as the penis is still within the prepuce (covered by the hair part), it is not a concern and will go down when the visual, smell, or physical stimulation is gone. If there are in-heat dogs in your house or neighborhood, it may go on longer. Having him neutered will also help.
