My dog isn't using his back leg after playing. Is it a pulled muscle?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 50 lbs

Our male boxer (Gus) who just turned 1 yr old, is not using his right back leg. Yesterday he played for hours with 3 other dogs. He doesn't seem to have pain. We've felt his bones and there does't seem to be any tender spots and NO swelling. We do have a picnic table the dogs used to jump on or off when they played. Gus loves to jump. Is there a chance he has simply pulled a muscle? He is using it a bit more as the day progresses. I'd think if he dislocated something it would be painful.

Unfortunately, if he is not really using it, it does hurt. I would be concerned about a cruciate ligament rupture in a big dog that was playing for a few hours yesterday. I would call your veterinarian in the morning and have them evaluate his leg. They can give him pain medication and depending on the physical examination they may recommend x-rays. In the meantime I would recommend strict rest, no off leash activity. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
