Do dogs get tired of their food? My dog will eat scraps of our food but not her food. She will go all day for days if all she had to eat was just her dog food. Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 7 months and 27 days old | 53 lbs

Yes dogs can tire of their food. If Murphie prefers human food over her own, she might be a bit spoiled so she is waiting for “treats” from you rather than eating her food. I also find this is a very shepherd trait. I had one too that would turn up her nose suddenly at food. I found buying smaller bags of food helped as she preferred it at optimum freshness and I rotated her variety more often. If you’re concerned about it, stop giving her people food and when she is hungry she will go back to her food. You could also try another flavour or meat protein (ie switch from chicken to beef etc) in the same line of food she is eating now and provide more moderation. Remember to slowly switch her food over several days, integrating the old and new foods to avoid tummy upset.
