Why does my kitten have a swollen neck gland and mucus in poop?

Pet's info: Cat | Snowshoe | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 12 days old | 5 lbs

Hello! My kitten, Chia, is just over 3 months old and I noticed that within the last week a node under her jaw on the left side of her neck has become enlarged. Also, a few days ago she had a tiny bit of blood and mucous in her feces. I've been monitoring her bowel movements since then and haven't noticed any more blood, but there is a little bit of mucous in each one. She had been eating an drinking well and has plenty of energy. Are there any causes that stand out with these symptoms?

Hi. An enlarged lymph node usually is due to infection or inflammation in the area that lymph node drains. The blood and mucous in stool may or may not be related. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian on monday. They will do an exam, a fecal test, an oral exam, and possibly a sample of that lymph node. I would also recommend a feline FELV and FIV test. Good luck
