My cat has a skin rash. What could it be and how do I get a diagnosis?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 4 lbs

Can I please know what type of skin disease is this? I really need to know so I can learn how to get my cat into a treatment. Thank you!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am afraid that it is not possible to diagnose this just based on a picture. This usually will require an examination and basic diagnostics. I am suspicious that he has been biting at his tail and this is possibly due to allergies. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to diagnose his condition so that he can be started on therapy. Good luck!
