My cat is stressed by loud banging. How can I help him relax and eat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 2 years and 8 months old | 12 lbs

We’re replacing the roof of our house so there is loud banging all day, which will continue for the next few days. And it is stressing out my cat. He has lost a lot of his appetite and he won’t come out from under the bed. He’s had issues before with a stress related bladder infection. What can I do to help him relax and not stress out too much.

There are many options from dietary supplements such as zylkene or kalm aid, pheromone diffusers and prescription anxiety medications. For renovation works, a short stay in a cattery could also be considered and may be less stressful than house and disruption at home
