Why is my kitten leaking poop, has diarrhea, and won't gain weight?

HELLO I have a kitten that's about two and a half months old possibly. Anyhow, he's had diarrhea for maybe 2 days now and I've noticed that when he's just lying around you can hear the poop/mucus just come right out of his anal. He's also been very hard to make gain some weight. I've changed his food to try different kinds to possibly make him gain weight and I've not had any luck.

If your kitten has not been wormed yet, I suggest you worm him with a kitten wormer and again in 2 weeks. If he has intestinal parasites he would have a problem holding weight and it could also cause diarrhea. You should also take a fresh stool sample to your veterinarian for a fecal exam. If this does not help, if your kitten's diarrhea does not clear up, or if he does not gain weight, or if your kitten gets lethargic or appears ill, he should be seen by a veterinarian for an exam. Make sure you feed him a good quality kitten food.
