Why do dogs get aggressive and bite me, but are calm with others?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 29 days old | 4 lbs

i get bitten even by the friendliest of dogs. i dont know why. every dog i go close to gets aggressive on me. now, my friend attracts dog and even the most aggressive dogs stay calm when he is around. someone told us it is because of different natural human scent. we both do have a very different smell and scent. is it really true and how can i fix this?

I would suspect that this is because the dogs can sense your fear and aprehension when approaching you. It is less likely to do with your scent. Try to be calm when dogs approach and let them come to you so as to not frighten them. Best of luck. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
