My dog on Rimadyl for knee, still falling and not peeing. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 79 lbs

I have a 2 year golden doodle and is having issues walking and was proscribed Rimadyl for her knee and since taking the Rimadyl she has only peed maybe twice. She is also having issues with even just getting up and seem to fall down a lot when we stand her up. She has been eating and drinking just fine.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is concerning as the Rimadyl is supposed to be helping but things continue to be about the same. This could be due to a neurological issue for example. I would encourage you to check in again with your veterinarian to have Lex reevaluated as she has not improved much. They could consider another medication such as gabapentin or more advanced diagnostics to try to diagnose the matter. Best of luck!
