Your vet can provide you with an anti-nausea medication, or some over the counter medications such as benadryl/Dramamine may help. Your vet can let you know the correct dosage for your pup's current age and weight. The good news is that most puppies naturally grow out of carsickness as they get older!

    Hello, sorry to hear about Cleo. There are medications to control motion sickness, however Cleo may still be too young for these. You can consult with your veterinarian about prescribing medications to control her motion sickness. Some medications may include zofran, benadryl, or cerenia. Hope this helps and best of luck.

You can try giving Dramamine which is available over the counter, however it is not specifically labeled to use in dogs, and it is not effective for all dogs. There are medications that can be given to dogs to help with car sickness. Letting your vet know that Coco gets car sick is best as they can provide you with a prescription or the correct dose of an over the counter medication to help. Usually, you'll give it about 30-60m before the car ride. Making sure Coco has a place where she can lay down and relax comfortably may help as well.

I would not recommend you give anything. She will be too small to take any over the counter medications. She will likely be just fine. The best thing to do is to put her in a kennel and let her sleep. If you guys are getting her overly excited and you let her run around the vehicle you have a higher chance that she will get sick. If she does get sick just clean it up and keep her calm and quiet. What is a safe medication to give Cooper for car sickness? Can I give him Dramamine for kids or benedryl? Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear that Cooper gets car sick - that's no fun for anyone! Hands down, the best anti-nausea medication for dogs is a prescription medication called Cerenia. Benadryl is an antihistamine that can be mildly sedating for some dogs, but it very rarely helps with vomiting and nausea from motion sickness. Children and adult Dramamine have different active ingredients. The dimenhydrinate in the adult form of Dramamine can be helpful with motion sickness in dogs, but it is generally less effective than Cerenia and has more possible side effects. Likewise, at only 10 pounds, Cooper is simply too tiny to be able to accurately split a Dramamine tablet into an appropriate dose. I would strongly recommend asking your vet about prescribing Cerenia. I hope that everything goes well!

What can I give my 10 yr old terrier for motion sickness?
Dramamine can be used to treat motion sickness in dogs, but you should consult with your veterinarian to make sure you get the correct formulation as some can be unsafe for dogs. Generally, veterinarians recommend a dosage of 2 to 4 mg per pound of the dog’s body weight, not to be administered more than once every eight hours. It’s best to give dogs the medicine at least half an hour before traveling. If your dog gets motion sick because of anxiety, Dramamine won't treat his anxiety, but you can work with your dog to help him become accustomed to travel and ultimately not need to be medicated. Using lavender on his bedding or a calming pheromone like Adaptil can be very helpful. The best way to help calm your dog's nervousness regarding travel is to take several short trips before going on a long trip. Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. The human medications for car-sickness rarely work well in animals and often can have serious side effects. I would recommend asking your vet about a drug called 'maropitant' or Cerenia. This is the best drug for dogs for car sickness. Alternatively Ondasetron can be used, however it might be hard to get a tablet small enough for Fiona. Best of luck with Fiona, I hope your car trip goes well.

My dog gets car sick on long car rides and we are going to be taking a trip on Monday. Am I able to give her Dramamine to help or is there something else I can give her to help her be more comfortable?
Try feeding her some ginger capsules, that usually takes away the nausea. And when you are not on a trip, start getting her used to driving in the car. Feed her in the car, go on 3-5 minute drives, slowly extending the time. This usually helps getting the dog used to being on a trip.

Car sickness can be very common in dogs. There are a few different prescription medications that can be used to decrease the symptoms associated with nausea. Sometimes dogs will grow out of it, and you can continue training Milo to get her desensitized to any anxiety portion associated with the car. Often you have to start slower than short trips, like starting by just walking to the car but not getting - give lots of praise and treats. Then work up to sitting in the car but not turning it on. Then turning on the car but not going anywhere, etc. It can take several months of training to make this process work. As far as the irregular vomiting goes, it is unlikely to be related to the previous parvoviral infection. It could be caused by reflux, intestinal parasites, or food allergies. I would recommend discussing these possibilities with your vet and discussing a change in diet or medications.
